- Upon successful purchase, you'll receive a confirmation email with a voucher or exchange order. Print or save a digital copy of this document for easy access.
Activating your JR West Pass
- You can only activate your JR West Pass once you arrive in Japan. Head to any JR West office located in major train stations across western Japan, or visit a designated JR West ticket office within a JR West train station.
- Show your passport (immigration stamp required) and your JR West Pass voucher/exchange order to the staff.
- Inform the staff of your desired activation date. You can activate your pass up to 30 days after the exchange date, allowing you some flexibility in planning your exploration.
Collect your JR West Pass
- To exchange the voucher for a physical pass, please present it on your phone at the correct ticket counter along with a legitimate photo ID.

The JR West Pass does not cover reserved seating on Shinkansen bullet trains, express surcharges on limited express trains, private train lines not operated by JR West, highway buses, airplane tickets, ferry tickets, or any additional transportation fees outside the designated JR West Pass area.
What happens if I lose my JR West Pass?
Unfortunately, lost JR West passes cannot be replaced or refunded. It's highly recommended to keep your pass safe and readily accessible throughout your trip. Consider taking a picture of your pass as a backup in case of emergencies.
