  • Children aged 12 and over are considered as adults. An Adult or Child pass holder can support up to 2 infants, aged 5 and under for free. Additional charges will apply for more infants.

Things to know before booking your JR Hokkaido Pass

  • The JR Hokkaido Pass grants access to JR Hokkaido trains throughout Hokkaido (excluding Shinkansen bullet trains). 
  • The pass comes in 3 options: 5 days, 7 days, or 10 days of consecutive travel. Select the duration that best suits your exploration timeframe. 
  • There are no blackout dates for the JR Hokkaido Pass
  • Children aged twelve and above are considered adults. A maximum of two infants who are five years of age or younger may be accompanied free of charge by an adult or child pass holder. There will be extra charges incurred for more than two infants accompanying the pass holder.
  • Choose your desired activation date within the pass's validity period.
  • The passes are not valid on buses, non-JR trains, or other non-JR Hokkaido-operated transportation.
  • As long as it remains valid, you can use this pass as often as you like. It only needs to be activated once at the beginning. It is not required to have it stamped at every station.
  • The pass can be used unlimited times, provided it is used during its allotted time of validity.
  • Passholders are required to always have their passports on them for verification.
  • Passes are only available to foreign tourists visiting Japan on a temporary visa.
